Putting the power back into the hands of local business has proven to be a successful business model. This poses great economic potential for the area as New Zealand Technology Group companies are able to deliver full end-to-end ICT services to local businesses, allowing them to not only grow, but flourish.

Don started Internet Hawke’s Bay in 1989, which puts Don at the very forefront of the internet revolution in NZ, even before Telecom latched onto its potential.

By 2007, Internet Hawke’s Bay had become WASP, the largest wireless network servicing the Central North Island area.

By then Don had amassed relationships with many businesses throughout Hawke’s Bay and beyond, providing the region with the most sophisticated wireless broadband available.

Don’s search for better bandwidth supply, more support and better services brought him in front of New Zealand Technology Group in 2011. Since then WASP has been able to widen its repertoire of services on offer to its customers. With a rich and varied past in engineering and a drive to make things happen, Don is also able to offer back to NZTG a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and in 2015 WASP became one of its first regional partners.

With an unabashed passion for computing, Don has over time built up his own computer museum. And when his love for the digital world needs some balance, he’ll be out fishing.

Haig Flashoff began working in IT in 1999 and completed his Bachelor in Computing Systems from Napier EIT in 2002.

He was involved in the start-up of MINT Technology in 2004 whilst working for an accounting company.  The idea behind MINT was to act as a purchasing company to obtain equipment for clients. Haig took up a full time role with MINT as he was doing all the IT work across the client base.  He eventually purchased the business.

MINT had a large and diverse customer base across a number of sectors but were particularly strong in the rural and professional services sectors.

Haig merged MINT into NZTG Hawkes Bay in 2017 and is now the head of sales in the commercial IT area.

Ray started his working career in home appliance sales before developing an interest in radio technology.  He gained national notoriety in 2006 when he discovered a flaw in the text messaging system of a major telco and has been a small but painful thorn in their side ever since.

In 2009 Ray started to build a rural wireless network as a hobby.  As demand grew this became more and more of a full time pursuit and Ray started in earnest on his goal of delivering first class broadband to the rural community of Hawke's Bay.

In 2017 Taylor Broadband merged into NZ Technology Group, joining WASP Broadband to create one of the largest rural internet providers in the country.  The network stretches from Wairoa in the North to Porangahau in the South.  The teams abilities to deliver creative solutions has seen is awarded a large contract by Crown Infrastructure Partners to develop and extend its network to even more customers around Hawke's Bay.

Peter is a retired Pharmacist. Originally born in the UK, he came to New Zealand nearly 50 years ago. He has been an elected member of the Hawke's Bay District Health Board since 2000, and although fully retired Peter still retains several private part time business interests.

Peter spends his retirement working with several charities, including the Rescue Helicopter Trust, HB Digital Archives and is a founding member of the Hawke's Bay Community Foundation.

With six grandchildren, a very large garden and a wealth of hobbies there is little free time.
